Total pounds of produce this summer from our four raised beds………….640 ounds.
Our garden this year was a great success. We harvested 215 total lbs. of tomatoes, zucchini, onions, carrots, radishes, cabbage, beets, and lettuce over the last three months. We planted beans and peas twice but something ate them both times. This year’s total is at least 100 lbs. over last years harvest.
Througout each week, Nancy guides us and Katie, Brandon, Susan, Larry and a host of Sunday worshippers help harvest, weigh, and deliver. All good!
Our senior group came out for the last harvest and sang praises to God while they worked.
Quite a haul with more to come soon.
We’re harvesting our tomatoes now! There is NOTHING like a home grown tomato! The pole beans are bearing, some beets are popping up, and the sweet peppers just keep coming.
Church members have added, from their home gardens, to what we share with the local food pantry. And last week, for the first time, we noticed that folks from the pantry’s host church had started bringing some fresh veggies, too. We think we started something good!
Deacons harvest, process and deliver fresh local produce to the Food Pantry every Monday.
